“The Great Life”: a concert for the 95th anniversary of Alexandra Pakhmutova took place at the Bolshoi

The Bolshoi Theatre’s historical stage hosted a festive evening, “The Great Life,” supported by the Russian Ministry of Culture, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the USSR People’s Artist and composer, Alexandra Nikolaevna Pakhmutova. The concert was the culmination of the anniversary program, “My Life in a Song”. It began back in May with a concert in the city of Volgograd, the composer’s hometown, and continued in September at the Moscow Philharmonic.

The festive evening opened with a waltz specially written by Alexandra Pakhmutova in October for the evening at the Bolshoi. The new melody was performed by the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of USSR People’s Artist, Yuri Bashmet.

The concert featured: Ildar Abdrazakov, Lev Leshchenko, Khibla Gerzmava, Pelageya, Stanislav Lyubshin, Sergey Bezrukov, Dima Bilan, participants of the TV contest “Blue Bird” Artemy Khrushchalin and Ivan Bessonov, as well as choirs of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater. The audience enjoyed many compositions, among them – “Let’s Bow to Those Great Years”, “How Can the Heart Forget”, “Tenderness”, “Belovezhskaya Pushcha”, “Goodbye, Moscow”, “Hope”.
