Russian Musical Union and Russian Cinema film company have launched the social project “We Remember” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945. The initiative, timed to May 9, will last throughout the anniversary year of 2020, and will provide an opportunity for everyone to share his or her family’s story.

“The war in one way or another affected every family in the country, and this is one of the reasons why the Victory Day has a very special place in the hearts of Russians. Almost any of us can share a story about our relatives who participated in the war. We once listened to such stories told by our parents and grandparents. And we still remember these stories – at the same time with pride and pain,” the release says.

As part of “We Remember” project, members of the Authors’ Council of Russian Authors’ Society Alexander Tchaikovsky, Stas Namin, Daniil Kramer, Vladimir Matetskiy, Vladimir Presnyakov Sr. spoke about their relatives who went through the war. Also, the viola player and conductor Yuri Bashmet, radio host Diana Berlin, pianist and actress Lyudmila Berlinskaya, jazz singer Anna Buturlina and others took part in the project. Internet users from all over the country can join the action.

To participate in the project, you need to shoot a short video a few minutes long – a story about a person who went through the war. You can show photos of the hero of your story, share the most interesting facts about his or her life.

From the collected materials a “live” Internet series will be created, in each episode of which the stories of different families and different people who survived one of the most difficult times in the life of the country will be heard.
