Igor Butman performed in Tula in honor of Dave Brubeck’s anniversary

In the framework of the International Festival of Brass Art “Brass Days” in honor of the 100th anniversary of the American composer Dave Brubeck, Igor Butman performed with his quintet and the Tula Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vladislav Lavrik.

The anniversary of the patriarch of cool jazz Dave Brubeck in 2020 is widely celebrated all over the world, and the idea to celebrate it in Russia belongs to the artistic director of the Festival, conductor and trumpeter Vladislav Lavrik.

The Philharmonic Hall hosted the world premiere of the arrangement “Brandenburg Gate: Revisited” and the European premiere of “Time Out Suite”, which combined compositions from the famous album of the same name. Two songs with lyrics by Iola Brubeck for voice and orchestra were performed by the soloist of the Helikon-Opera Theater Maria Maskhulia.
