Igor Butman goes on tour in the USA

From January 30 to February 12, 2020, concerts of the Moscow Jazz Orchestra and Quintet of Igor Butman will be held in various cities in the USA. As part of the tour, musicians will perform in New York, Baltimore, Miami, Chicago, and Boston.

The bands will perform jazz standards, popular works in the original arrangements of the composer and pianist Nikolai Levinovsky, as well as original compositions by Igor Butman.

The tour starts with a series of four concerts by the Moscow Jazz Orchestra conducted by Butman at the Blue Note club in New York City. On February 5 and 6, the Quintet of Igor Butman will perform at the Keystone Corner Jazz Club in Baltimore, on February 7 they will be in Miami, on February 9 in Chicago, and on February 12, the musicians will take the stage in Boston.

The previous tour of the Moscow Jazz Orchestra in the United States took place in January 2019, the Quintet of Igor Butman – in July 2019.

President of the Authors’ Council of Russian Authors’ Society (RAO) Igor Butman founded the “Igor Butman Orchestra” in 1999. Since then he has been actively touring in Russia, Europe and the USA, performed at the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Birdland Jazz Club and other concert venues in the world, and participated in the All-Star Global Concert on the International Jazz Day. In 2012, the team was awarded the title of Moscow State Jazz Orchestra conducted by Igor Butman.

The Quintet of Igor Butman (originally the quartet) was also founded in 1999. The bands bring together prominent representatives of jazz in Russia. Oleg Akkuratov took the second place in the international competition of jazz vocalists named after Sarah Vaughan held in the USA. Evgeny Pobozhiy in 2019 won the International Guitar Competition of the Jazz Institute named after Herbie Hancock.
