Now Russian musicians will be able to deposit the name of their own group and their stage name. This option appeared in ISNI. Accordingly, anyone can use the Russian n’RIS service to register in the international registry. n’RIS is developing digital services to protect intellectual property.
n’RIS Project Manager Nikolai Turubar explained why registering your group name or scenic name with ISNI can make it much easier to protect your intellectual property rights: “Although the entry of a name or pseudonym (scenic name) into the global registry does not equate to the registration of a trademark, it is the first and important step in creating strong intellectual property protection. In addition, registering the name will significantly simplify and make an order in the procedure of calculating royalties.”
You can register not only one name, but also the scenic names of all group members. In addition, you can also give a description to every member. Thus, something like a creative portfolio is made. To avoid confusion, each subject is assigned its own unique digital code of 16 digits. This is necessary in order to be able to distinguish between authors who have the same pseudonyms (scenic names).
Bands and labels from all over the world use the ISNI service, because at the moment it is the only registry where you can register your musical intellectual property. Moreover, during the registration process, ISNI independently checks whether, for example, a given composition really belongs to the artist. You can also register word marks, writing style, logos, etc.
