Igor Butman appointed Director of the State College of Brass Art

Igor Butman, the head of Moscow Jazz Orchestra was appointed by Moscow authorities as the Director of the State College of Brass Art.

Igor Butman, the Honored Artist of Russia, President of the Authors’ Council of Russian Authors’ Society, thanked the Head of the Department of Culture of Moscow Alexander Kibovsky for the trust in his talents.

“I believe this is a first step on the road to changing attitude of the public to brass instruments for the better,” said the musician.

The State College of Brass Art is a unique phenomenon in the domestic system of music education, the only college in Europe specializing in the training of professional musicians who perform wind (brass) and percussion instruments.

Over the 25 years of its existence, the college has become one of the leading educational, methodological, and creative centers of culture and art in the capital.

Mr. Igor Butman is a Russian saxophonist, art director of the Moscow Jazz Club on Taganka, and the owner of the Russian-American jazz label “Butman Music”. In 2012, he became the Head of the Moscow Jazz Orchestra. Producer of 11 international festivals: “World Jazz Festival” (Riga), “Triumph of Jazz” (Moscow, St. Petersburg), “Jazz Seasons in the Leninsky Hills” (Museum-Reserve “Gorki Leninsky”), “Skolkovo Jazz” (Innograd Skolkovo ), “Sakhalin-Hokkaido Jazz” (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk), “The Future of Jazz” (Moscow), “Jazz World Contest” (Rostov-on-Don), “Veise-Jazz” (Saransk), “Musical Humor Festival” ( Chelyabinsk), “Jazz on Lake Baikal” (Irkutsk), “Sochi Jazz Festival” (Sochi).
